2007 Tax Rebates

Interesting.

Here is a new article on the Tax Rebates issue.

Now they have decided to include the poor who don't even pay taxes... up to $1200. $300 per child.

The Republicans didn't want to include them... makes sense fiscally, but the Democrats wouldn't sign on unless they were included. Sounds typical. How can you rebate someone who didn't give in the first place. That's not a rebate... that's a give-a-way. LOL

So -- you know how I like give-a-ways... well -- wait... this sort of leaves a bad taste in my mouth... they are giving away someone else's money. I'm not sure I'm so excited about this "free" money. If it were my money -- I wouldn't want some else to give it away. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. (nicely)

Do you already have plans for your money?

  1. yeah...it doesnt' seem right to give away someone else's money bu they already do it. We don't pay taxed but yet get a "refund." I never thought that seemed right, but then I do like getting the money!!!! Now if it was a refund of the several thousand dollars of property taxes that we pay that mostly goes to public education which we don't use...that would be AOK with me.
As to how to spend it, I can think of about 10 different ways to spend 1200 dollars.

  2. Oh... property taxes... now THAT we could get refunded and I wouldn't even feel a twinge of guilt. So -- hmmm... so -- let's just call it even.

I pay property taxes - they use them, but I don't (since we home school)... so I can get this rebate -- as a payback of those taxes... just do a switcheroo in my own mind. LOL

I think we do that in our budgeting at home. Lets just do a switcheroo and call it even. Ü

  5. Dear, you ARE right. I won't go on in my usual political diatribe style, but this is definitely an issue. Why should people who contribute nothing get money from people who do? I have worked every single day of my life since I was 16. I paid into the system, I deserve to get something out of it. The democrats will tell you how utterly SELFISH this thinking is, how "UNCHRISTIAN". My retort is that I give to charity where charity belongs, not to my government but in the form of donations and time to my church and charities of my choosing. When government gets out of the charity business, we will all be better off. Catholic and Lutheran Charities have done more to get people on their feet and back into the workforce in one year, than the government has done in 40!

Now I am finished with this little soapbox.

  7. Our money is going into savings. Hubby is planning on "retiring" and then going to college for 2 years before getting another job.

Two years and 1/3 the income (from his retirement). . .EVERYTHING we can give (which isn't much)goes into savings.

So ahh, how are you doing otherwise?! Stopped by to say hi and see you have tax refunds, I mean Democrat charity on the brain... silly Dems, tax rebates are for tax payers! (picture the Trix rabbit saying that... rabbit, not rebate!)
