Yet another dog incident...

Sigh

I inherited a gene from my mother. It's the "dogs are disgusting and rude and I hate them" gene. If you are a dog lover... then feel free to quit reading and go pet a dog or something. I do not want to hear about all the good dogs out there.

Good Bye.

OK -- now that it's just us... I think I'll vent a little. Is that OK?

Did you know I'm training for a 5k?

No -- I did NOT just change the subject. I know I have ADD... but I'm not that bad.

Oh look a quarter!!

Just kidding.

Anyway. Training for a 5k... it includes running. Well -- OK at my speed... shuffling. I have to shuffle long distances sometimes. South of me... HILLS. I try not to shuffle there very often. Although I might consider it -- seeing as the dogs are less rude in that direction.

I can only go north up a very steep hill. Once at the top of that hill I can only run 1/2 a mile... oh wait... I can only shuffle 1/2 a mile in either direction before I encounter dogs. Some more rude then others. You may remember... I've met the neighbor's dogs. Some dogs are so rude.

A while after that incident my DH was reading a running magazine and it happened to mention rude dogs. What to do about them. Keep on running it says. Oh -- nice advice. I'll have to remember that. Just ignore them... they'll go away. Yeah -- but... what if you have the "dogs are disgusting and rude and I hate them" gene. I'm pretty sure they can sense that... and I have proof.

Today -- I went runn-- OK -- I went shuffling. I had run 3 miles on Thursday. When I passed the rude dog's house -- the slick blue no named one - he barked at me from inside the house. HA HA!! Triumph. So Friday I thought I'd go for a short and faster run. YES... I'll call it a run. Just one mile.. and most of it is down hill. Ebony was with me... but behind me... so I'll call it running.

I got to the rude dog's house -- not even thinking of the dog -- so no fear was dripping from my armpits at that time. I'm sure they couldn't smell a thing. Besides the fact that I hadn't showered yet... but well... you know. NO FEAR... they were not smelling fear when they came running at me. My first thought. "The magazine says keep on running and ignore them." So I did! I kept on running while the slick 4 legged dog was running towards me and growling!! Then when I could smell HIM I yelled GO HOME!! Then when he bit at me and tore my shirt I started YELLING REALLY REALLY LOUDLY!!! COME GET YOUR DOG!! GET YOUR DOG AWAY FROM ME!! COME OUT HERE AND GET YOUR DOG!!

So they yelled out the window... "Round 'em up Bo."

I swear to you -- I hate dogs... they are so rude.

No dogs were injured on my walk home...My pride was very hurt. It was amazing to my how my body reacted to that stupid slick 4 legged dog. I had to stop and sit down before walking the rest of the way home. The biting didn't break the skin, but I've got a bruise and it's sore and well -- I'm mad. I scared my DH 1/2 to death because I tried to call him and tell him about it but started crying during the middle of the message and he thought I was dying. Well -- not dying... you know... but definitely worse then a little nip. My DD said, "Why did he bite you -- did you kick him?" Kick him?? No way!! I was following directions... just keep on running. Who ever said, "dumb dog" sure was right!

Updates

My friend Mary asked me about Audrey Caroline a while back... and then reminded my dh that she still wants an update. LOL I haven't been blogging very regularly so I had forgotten. Mary -- I'm sorry -- Ü

NOW... now I'll update.

Audrey Caroline has a story... to start from the beginning read here.

Angie Smith is the mother and she seems to be updating her blog Bring the Rain. It has over 2,000 followers. She calls her regular followers "Sundays".

So -- how is that Mary? Are you a Sunday?

Worthy Traditions

I have a memory of myself swinging on the BIG swing at the church camp grounds... swinging with two boys... leaning my head back... arms straight... going high in the sky, checking to see if my feet touched the leaves of the tree in the front... while listening to the boys sing.

Great green gobs of greasy grimy gopher guts...

But that is the only line I can remember.

Until today.

TODAY I was reading The Fledgling by Jane Langton. I came across a song she was having a "colossal bully" sing in her book. It makes me wonder if she had the same fond memories that I had, or if she was the one who made up the song and in the 80's my friends were reading this same book and thought it would be cool to memorize the song to gross out the girls. I think it is providential that I stumbled across this book at the Knoxville Public Library book sale, because I love that memory!

Here is how it goes (According to Jane Langton)

Great green gobs of greasy, grimy gopher guts,

Mutilated monkey meat,

Little birdies' dirty feet,

Chopped-up chunks of little wormies' dirty teeth,

All in a bowl of blood!

All in a bowl of blood!

All in a bowl of blood!

That's my mother's newest tasty recipe,

All in a bowl of blood!

So – what did I do with my new found knowledge? I called for my boys... “Hey boys!! I found a song that I once cherished from my youth. Want to hear it?” I had the most serious look on my face. They nodded quite solemnly...

I my best church singing voice... I started singing (to the tune of a familiar Sunday school song... “In the Lord's Army.”)

Great green gobs of greasy, grimy gopher guts.

I got interrupted by great hoots of laughter!!

I kept on singing.... Mutilated monkey meat,

“Oh COOOL!”, they exclaimed... because I had often sang the first line... but never the whole song.

What a day! Exciting Day... today I can pass on the song I remember from junior high camp to my boys... they'll learn it and use it to gross out girls when they get to junior high camp. I'm one who firmly believes in passing on traditions... but only worthy traditions! Great green globs of greasy grimy gopher guts...

MOMS

Of course I got this one from my sister Becky, and I had to cover my mouth to keep from laughing out loud in the library. LOLIL is scorned here... :giggle: She is one of my funny sisters. (OK -- they are all funny... it runs in the family.) Oh some of these are hysterical.... because they are almost true!! What am I saying?? They are the ABSOLUTE TRUTH!! (I hide the scotch tape above the microwave).

WHY GOD MADE MOMS
All answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2.. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born..

How did God make mothers?

1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us..
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me.. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of?

1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?

1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
2 I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3.. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?

1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?

1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3 . I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?

1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you get to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.
4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mom do in her spare time?

1. Mothers don't do spare time..
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?
I really like this one!

1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
3.. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

WHEN YOU STOP LAUGHING -- comment on which ones are true for you!!

You are Invited to a New American Tea Party

I read this on Diana's facebook today. So of course I'm stealing it so you can read it as well and tell others that can spare a tea bag for a cause!!
*************************************************************

What a wonderful idea, I just wish it had been mine. I have a feeling that USPS is going to have a lot of tea to contend with, after all it only costs 42 cents to send a message, hopefully heard round the world!!!

So please mark your Calendars

There's a storm abrewin'. (Jennifer says: Clever) What happens when good, responsible people keep quiet? Washington has forgotten they work for us. We don't work for them. Throwing good money after bad is NOT the answer. I am sick of the midnight, closed door sessions to come up with a plan. I am sick of Congress raking CEO's over the coals while they, themselves, have defaulted on their taxes. I am sick of the bailed out companies having lavish vacations and retreats on my dollar. I am sick of being told it is MY responsibility to rescue people that, knowingly, bought more house than they could afford. I am sick of being made to feel it is my patriotic duty to pay MORE taxes. I, like all of you, am a responsible citizen. I pay my taxes. I live on a budget and I don't ask someone else to carry the burden for poor decisions I may make. I have emailed my congressmen and senators asking them to NOT vote for the stimulus package as it was written without reading it first. No one listened. They voted for it, pork and all. (Jennifer says: I actually DID do this?? Did you?)

O.K. folks, here it is. You may think you are just one voice and what you think won't make a difference. Well, yes it will and YES, WE CAN!! If you are disgusted and angry with the way Washington is handling our taxes. If you are fearful of the fallout from the reckless spending of BILLIONS to bailout and "stimulate" without accountability and responsibility then we need to become ONE, LOUD VOICE THAT CAN BE HEARD FROM EVERY CITY, TOWN, SUBURB AND HOME IN AMERICA. There is a growing protest to demand that Congress, the President and his cabinet LISTEN to us, the American Citizens. What is being done in Washington is NOT the way to handle the economic free fall.

So, here's the plan. On April 1, 2009, all Americans are asked to send a TEABAG to Washington ,D.C. You do not have to enclose a note or any other information unless you so desire. Just a TEABAG. Many cities are organizing protests. If you simply search, "New American Tea Party", several sites will come up. If you aren't the 'protester' type, simply make your one voice heard with a TEABAG. Your one voice will become a roar when joined with millions of others that feel the same way. Yes, something needs to be done but the lack of confidence as shown by the steady decline in the stock market speaks volumes.

This was not my idea. I visited the sites of the 'New American Tea Party' and an online survey showed over 90% of thousands said they would send the teabag on April 1. Why, April 1?? We want them to reach Washington by April 15. Will you do it? I will. Send it to; 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Washington, D.C. 20500 .....

Forward this to everyone in your address book. Visit the website below for more information about the 'New American Tea Party'. I would encourage everyone to go ahead and get the envelope ready to mail, then just drop it in the mail April 1. Can't guarantee what the postage will be by then, it is going up as we speak, but have your envelope ready. What will this cost you? A little time and a 40 something cent stamp.

What could you receive in benefits? Maybe, just maybe, our elected officials will start to listen to the people. Take out the Pork. Tell us how the money is being spent. We want TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY. Remember, the money will be spent over the next 4-5 years. It is not too late.
************************************************
OK -- Me again... Fox News has posted an short tidbit about the Tea Parties that are going on across American. So apparently this idea is not a hoax.

Well -- the New American Tea Party blog says a tea bag will likely not reach your congressman... or anyone that can read for that matter... since it's tea... might be suspicious... but one reader suggested sending just the tag from the bag. I think I'll do that. I'll save all my tags that I use until April 1st in an envelope and mail that. We drink a lot of tea at our house. LOL

Anyone else gonna play?

Burns

I burned my arm with grease the other day. I scrapped off one of the blisters while getting dressed. So today that one blister looks red around it... is it getting infected?

I'll have to take a photo of my arm so you can see the neat pattern it made. Knowing my skin it will really scar like crazy.

So - speaking of scars... anyone have a good treatment for scars -- to make them less noticeable? Just wondering.

Here we go a visiting.

I'm going to visit one of my sisters.

She is having all 4 sisters and my mom over for the week-end.

it's a BIG DEAL!!

I'm so excited I can hardly wait.

I feel like a kid!

My kids are staying home with my dear husband. If you think of them you can pray for them. If you think of Dan, you can pray for him. Ü I'm sure it will be different with mom not around.

I can't wait - pics will be forthcoming.

Some List

I recently read a blog that was a list. She listed 25 things. Things I pray I never have to experience, because it is things in her life that are true to her because she lost her precious baby in a horrible accident.

I only know Rachel through the inter-net, but I pray for her like I pray for my in-real-life sisters in Christ in my church. Fervently, real, and lovingly.

I'm sharing her list with you so that you can glean from her. Learning from her instead of experiencing it yourself. Use her list as a tool to minister to others! That's what I'm going to do... and it helps me know how to pray for her in a more effective manner!

It's Official

I said I wasn't going to weigh every day. LOL

Well -- I lied.

AND it's official

I've gained 2 pounds on my South Beach diet this week. Started yesterday -- gained 2. Must have been that silly 1/2 baked potato that I forgot about and put on my plate. So of course I ate it.

Hmm... I'll keep you posted.

Unless I don't want to. Diets are depressing. Ü

Ho Hum

So -- what's new with you?

ME?

I'm going grocery shopping tomorrow.

It's supposed to snow tomorrow.

My dear daughter is going on a winter retreat tomorrow.
She will love the snow
--
I will miss her.

I've measured - and am going to try to do South Beach again this grocery cycle.
I don't really care to weigh...
I might die of heart failure.

Link me to your blogs in your comments -- I want to catch up next time I come to the library.
I miss you bloggy friends.

Prayers for Tyler

My nephew Tyler C. could use your prayers.

He was riding his bike, and somehow flipped over him handle bars. He broke his noggin. After surgery (they inserted a plate), he is disappointed that he has to miss baseball try outs today. Typical 12 year old boy.

His parents need some sleep... they could use prayer too.

We love you Chris and Genell. Trevor and Ann... we will pray for you too as you will probably end up with Tyler's chores for the next few... days...weeks probably. Ü

She's 13... what can I say?

Um...

or...

Well -- we'll try this maybe.

OK -- group shot... that'll have to do.

I really tried.

I did.

I tried, and tried, and tried to get her to smile like the other kids were.

It's just like pulling teeth... I hope she grows back into smiling!!
Well -- she smiles... just not much for the camera.

So Many Choices!!

D.

A.

N.

I.

Why oh why did I have so many children? This really is not easy!

If I printed every single picture that I ever took of them... I'd have to buy a storage shed for my photos!!

I think some of these are framing quality.

Which one would YOU frame??

(Aren't you glad there isn't any hair wax in this post?)
